imelda marcos is insane.

of course i know that thousands, even millions of people out there don't really like this lady, but after watching imelda's docu, it's only now that i realize exactly why this person is both loved and hated at the same time.

the docu is well made, well shot, and well edited (for me). i'm glad it didn't dwell too much on her shoes and bling-blings but rather on imelda as a human being (a good and/or bad one at that). i particularly like the scene where she's standing beside ferdinand marcos' frozen body and she says that on marcos' plaque, it says "filipino". then she goes on and says that on her tomb, she wants the inscription "here lies love" to be written. after that, she motions her two hands towards marcos and says: "but.. here lies love". she then weeps.

it was probably the first time in my life that i actually felt some sort of sympathy for this woman.

but other than that, the docu just reaffirms my sentiments towards imelda. like what rina said, we were taught to hate this woman ever since we were born. the pentel pen-feeling philosopher scene really did that for me. hehe. aside from her saying that the "bolo" was too much of an ugly instrument for it to be used to assassinate her. haha.

i swear, she's demented.

but what amazes me about imelda is how she still manages to captivate the hearts of a lot of other filipinos. she's like a rock star. and i've noticed that she's an idol to the girls of the post-martial-law-babies generation. hehe. i guess her shoes, clothes, diamonds, and over-all lifestyle are bright enough to blind this new generation to the human rights violations she's been accused to have committed.
