my family attended my first counsin's wedding last saturday (april 17) at caleruega in batangas. before anything, caleruega is such an idyllic place for weddings, wala lang. hehe. anyway, since we were all gona be dressed up for it, i was kinda excited about it. i like seeing my family in formal attire eh, ewan ko ba kung bakit. so nung morning of that day, the five ben cabigases were in barongs including my dad, then my sister and my mom were in a dress. when we were about to leave na, i realized something: the wedding was at 10am. meaning... ang init mamaya!

and i was more than just right. in fact, 'mainit' was an understatement. imagine niyo na lang, the wedding started at 10:30am, finished at around 12:00nn! tanghaling tapat! at summer ngayon! then the chapel didn't have air-conditioning and the reception area beside the chapel was just open air with tents! plus... we're all in barongs! aaah!

the things we do for family talaga... this is actually just the second wedding i've ever attended in my life. the first one being my other cousin's wedding. so bale, it has always been a family affair for me.

anyway, i don't think i could ever really understand weddings. i mean, i don't think spending huge amounts of money is necessary and all the pageantry that comes with it. para sakin lang ha! based on what i've seen, what makes a wedding really nice are actually the things that you don't really have to spend on (well, food siguro): the company of the people who are witnessing the wedding, and the newlyweds themselves. kasi, for example, even though the heat was insane at caleruega, we actually still found the wedding to be nice and all. people still cried when the vows were being said, kinikilig lahat when they kissed, everyone was still smiling despite the heat... it really was just about the company (of just around 60 people) and the newlyweds that made the wedding really nice.

unlike those really enormous weddings you read in the papers with 500 guests or so and 20 sponsors, etc. how do you expect something like that to honestly and sincerely be able to focus on the newlyweds rather than the preparations, the program, souvenirs, etc? it'll just defeat the purpose of it. and its weird to think that almost every filipino would rather have their wedding that way.

anyway, sa wedding ko punta kayo ha! knowing me, im gona make it as different as possible. hehehe. sa africa siguro. haha!
