I'M CURRENTLY EXPERIENCING A REVITALIZED SOCIAL LIFE. finally! thanks to my new work schedule, i finally get to go out on saturday nights! haha! ever since my sked changed a few weeks ago, i've made sure that i would have something to do every week. this is the effect of working on weekends for 7 months straight. haha. i feel like i'm back to being a freshman in college when going out every saturday was something you made it a point to do religiously.
THIS REVITALIZED SOCIAL LIFE HAS MADE ME REALIZE SOMETHING. everybody is starting to take up boxing! in every single party, event, dinner, or gathering i go to, i always find out that a friend of mine or someone i know has been taking up boxing or has just started to, or plans to start training. wow. to think when i started out last december, i never knew anyone else who was into it. and a lot of friends contact me via text or e-mail asking varied questions about boxing, boxing gyms, boxing equipment, etc. feeling consultant naman ako, haha. it's all good though. i like the fact that more people are becoming more aware about the sport. developments like these make sports flourish.
SO IF YOU PLAN TO TAKE UP BOXING. here are some things i'd like to share. for boxing to be effective in terms of fitness, you'd have to train at least twice a week. if you want to do boxing seriously, buy your own gloves. i recommend the brand 'twins'. a pair would cost you at least P2,000 so you have to make sure that you're really into this. you can buy your hand wraps anywhere. there are so many gyms out there right now and most of them provide you the same basic training. however, if you feel that you wish to go boxing on a more advanced level, go to the elorde gyms. if not, just tell your trainer that you wish to increase your level of training. they'd understand. unless you can box more than three times a week, don't pay on a monthly basis. pay the per session fee which should range between P150 and P200. that's the going rate today. i've noticed that more women take up boxing than men so the women out there shouldn't be hesitant. i'm not surprised though since boxing removes fat from areas like arms quickly. your trainer doesn't have to be an ex-boxer to be good. some guys can look like your regular 'mama na nakaupo sa tabi-tabi' but they know how to teach boxing better than most trainers.
ANOTHER THING I'D LIKE TO SHARE ABOUT BOXING. if you're a guy who has been going to the gym, lifting weights and all that and feels like he already has a nice body. trust me, hindi kayo tatagal sa boxing. hahahaha. i bet two rounds lang kayo sa punch mitts, pagod na kayo. boxing focuses on building your stamina, among other things. strength comes in second. so guys out there should be ready to check in their egos at the gym locker rooms. you're bound to stop in the middle of a round during sessions when you're still starting out.
ON OTHER SPORTS. i'm not a big fan of soccer but i made it a point to get updated with world cup news. worldwide sports events like these (like the olympics) are something i keep myself updated with. i also follow tennis as much as i can and swimming. anyway, a little kwento about the world cup. i foresaw the conclusion of the italy vs. france final! i'm not kidding! i passed by my office that night before the game and told a friend of mine that i feel that italy would win over penalties and that the score would be 5-3. lo and behold, the EXACT result came out! freaky.
I HAVE A VERY BIG AND LIFE-CHANGING ANNOUNCEMENT TO MAKE. but i won't announce it just yet. everyone will know about it soon enough. i am simply waiting for certain formalities to finish then i'll be telling everyone.
