an amazing race

i've been watching the amazing race 5 every week since it began around 2 months ago i think. as in every episode! i decided to write about it since i spent 5 hours of my day today just watching the catch up episodes at axn (even if i've watched those episodes before). i'm hooked i admit.

this is a sort of breakthrough for me since i'm not really the "tv" kinda guy. in general, i don't really watch tv. i'd rather surf the net or read the papers or do something else than watch tv. but for some reason i seem to be hooked on this show. it's rare that i'm ever hooked on one. the only other shows i know wherein i watched ALL the episodes are survivor 1, 2, and 3 (hindi naman puro reality shows diba, hehe). although i do watch friends, csi, and sex and the city once in a while, i can't say i've watched all the episodes and know as much about it as i do amazing race. i also watched the previous seasons of the amazing race but not so much. kung nagkataon lang na 'yun yung nasa tv, then i watch it.

it's an interesting tv show really. amazing talaga siya! i love the whole concept of racing around the world. and it's not even the possibility of winning a million dollars that gets me, its just the whole journey that the teams go through that captures me. and probably the fact that i've always wanted to travel that much and be exposed to the diversity in cultures this world has to offer. haay. how i wish maka-sali ako sa amazing race!

the team of colin and christie is my favorite. i used to hate them 'coz of their bickering and colin's egotistic, condescending, and asshole-ish attitude but after watching the episodes again and the videos on the internet, i want them to win the race. they're the most competitive and maabilidad for me, colin especially. he's my role model for determination and setting standards in terms of winning. in russia, for example, they placed second but you could just feel their disappointment and it says so much about them. anything other than finishing first place is not good enough. and that's the kind of attitude that sets other people apart (for good or bad).

if only they didn't get eliminated, charla and mirna would be my bet to win the race. considering that they're not as physically capable especially one of them being a little person, they still hacked most of the legs they were in. and both of them equal colin's determination and competitiveness which really makes it more exciting (and it makes good tv too). bad trip lang talaga yung flight nila na na-delay kaya sila natalo. oh well, that's how it really is. it would be really nice though to still see them racing and challenging colin and christie's team. saya nun!

the amazing race...

...inspires me to be more competitive
...reminds me to always be good to other people especially strangers
...enlightens me to know that some americans don't know what a mosque is or a scarab
...makes me more determined to achieve my goal of traveling the world
...pushes me to set higher standards for myself.

i wait with utmost eagerness when the teams arrive here in the philippines. they're supposed to go to the coconut palace and lagen island in palawan. and it's also supposed to be the final leg of the race. wahoo! now that's something i'm definitely not going to miss.
