we are an impatient generation

1.) i'm finally done with my ojt

i was supposed to be done with this two weeks ago but some miscommunication with my practicum coordinator forced me to extend. i started kasi before the official start of summer classes in la salle so the time i spent ojt-ing before the start of summer weren't counted daw sa number of hours required for my ojt. oh well. i had fun anyway.

what have i learned? for one, i don't think i'm cut out for a 9 to 5 job. yeah, i could do a job like that, no question about it, but i doubt if i could sustain enthusiasm for years. i guess i'm the type na walang oras-oras, nothing routine-y dapat, and nothing that makes you feel robotic. don't get me wrong, my ojt was great but i'm glad that at least i had a glimpse of some of the things i wouldn't want to spend years in. well, we'll see na lang siguro where i'll be settling in terms of employment.

2.) growing old, really old

our distant relatives/grandparents lived with us for a few weeks 'cause they had to fix their finances here in manila (they live in ilocos). both of them are over 90 years old by the way. yes, 90. exagg.

i actually can't imagine myself living that long (with the all the sisig and crispy pata i eat), pero they surely were an inspiration for me. they still walk without any help and they're minds are still very sharp. but one of the best things about them is that they seem to still be happy with their lives and very much in love with each other. galing no? all they have are each other actually. awww. makes you wonder what your life would be like if you live over the age of 90.

3.) we are an impatient generation

i can't help but agree with the statement i read in a column in the philippine star: we are an impatient generation. weird enough, i also read this in an article in time magazine: "patience is hardly the signal virtue of our age".

totoo diba? we all live thinking that everything must be done or made at the quickest possible time. that results must be immediate. think about it. we're all programmed to believe that we should get rich while we're young. that studying for finals should be crammed in an hour (ok, baka ako lang 'yun). that results from exercise or diet should be visible in a month (or less!). when we're in restaurants, we almost always tell the waiter "pa follow-up ng order ko" when we've just waited for a few minutes lang and we know naman that cooking good food takes time. we seem to hate falling in line whether it be in the mall or while driving, which makes us either mad or think of ways to cut the line, and make things worse for others. hay.

4.) jollibee, bida ang sarap!

on a babaw note, i was watching a jollibee commercial recently tapos natuwa ako kasi naka-relate ako. hehe. sabi kasi ni aga na besides chickenjoy, the best thing about jollibee is that you can just be alone. shet! sakto 'yun sakin. everytime i eat at jollibee, i'm usually alone and i always have two piece chickenjoy. haha! tapos i enjoy those moments kahit wala kang kausap kasi parang perfect lang kumain ng chickenjoy mag-isa and just think about stuff or daydream. sakto talaga yung commercial na 'yun sakin.

5.) pilots and flight attendants

call me weird, but i really like the sight of pilots and flight attendants in their uniforms with matching strollers in tow sa airport, walking towards the plane. hehe. i really feel like they have one of the coolest jobs there is.
