goodbye college part 2

blogger's note: last week i wrote about economics, my course. this week, i'll be writing about the people who i started off college with, my block. oh yeah, i'm also the new cosmo guy. hehe. read on to find out why.

the block i flocked with

for everyone who enters college in la salle, everything starts off with their block. for almost everyone, they also end college with their block. so on average, that's around 3 to 4 years of being together. in my case, even if i finished college in 5.3 years (hehe, hindi 6 years!), i only got to spend just a little over a year with my block: bne2003 block 11. t'was a short time, pero it was pretty great.

we were a small block for cbe, mga 30 lang 'ata kami. we all met nung freshmen orientation (lpep) way back in summer of 2000 and we did what normal la salle frosh do: eat together, flock to a mall together, make noise together, block the hallways together and at the same time unknowingly annoy the upperclassmen who couldn't pass by. haha.

sa block ko, i naturally had my own sub-group slash barkada. mga 3/4 ng block yung matatalino, masisipag, mga nagka 4.0 sa microeconomics, etc. kami yung the rest... hehe. but these were the people who made my freshmen year. made it wild, fun, interesting, and unforgettable. these were the people i always hung out with, cut class with, manlait ng tao with, and tambay with at torre lorenzo, agno, or UM (yuck!). we were all solidly together for just over a year kasi naghiwa-hiwalay na kami ng mga landas after that.

kami yung mga nag-shift, bumagsak, na-delay, na-kick out, at nag-transfer. no kidding. what's funny, literally kami lang mga "bad apples" ang nag sama-sama sa block. birds of the same feather nga naman. no wonder na-delay ako! hehe. what i really love about this group is that even though we were just together for a short time, most of us remain to be really good friends up to now. weird nga eh. half a decade after we all slowly went our separate ways, we still meet up for some drinks and talk and have fun. its great. noticeably tumanda na kami in many ways kasi mas mature na yung topics na pinag-uusapan namin, pero all the fun is still there.

we all started with basically the same course. yung iba kasi double degree, yung iba single lang. ever since we all met each other in 2000, tatlo samin nag-shift sa marketing. tatlo natanggal. dalawa dun nag benilde. yung isang natanggal nag economics sa davao. one of us willingly nag-transfer ng school and is now taking up nursing. four of us stayed with economics but were all delayed. hanep sa group no? hehe. nag grad na yung mga nag-tuloy ng eco and one is taking up nursing as a second course. right now, some of us have jobs na and some are taking up nursing. i am, on the other hand, waiting for my graduation this october and the title of "the very last member of block 11 to ever graduate from la salle". haha! to think ako pa yung naging block pres! hehe!

my frosh year is definitely something i'll always look back at. sobrang distinct kasi niya from my other years in college na its just hard to forget. it'll be futile to tell specific stories of our kabulastugan since mas ma-ge-gets lang talaga yung mga 'yun pag kami-kami. pero i have to say, they're some of the best people i've ever met and i'm glad i did. college has definitely been great because of these guys. salamat sa inyo.

ben-ariel, the new cosmo hunk!

you'll never know where your kapal mukha side can get you. in my case, it got my face printed in the new issue of cosmo magazine. haha! check it out:

my cousin, drei, works for cosmo kasi and she asked me to send her a photo of myself. sabi ko kunin na lang niya yung friendster pic ko kasi wala naman akong ibang photo na ok. lo and behond, i see my photo printed in a magazine a month after.

dun ako sa section where guys are "quoted" on a certain topic. my complete name is there but apparently, 25 years old na pala ako at full-time economist! hayop! pero yung lafftrip talaga yung quote na naka-lagay. it's about what was one of the biggest blows to my ego. and i quote: "a girl was misinformed and thought that i wasn't well hung". hahaha!

hindi ako nagpapaka-defensive pero imbento lang 'yan ng pinsan ko! hehe! so to all those who read cosmo, 'wag niyo nang paniwalaan 'coz the stuff there aren't as true as you think. hehe. actually, last month's issue featured my two older brothers, my sister's boyfriend, and my cousin's husband in that same section where i'm in. hehe! ibang level talaga kami.

sabi ko nga sa cosmo next month dun na ako sa centerfold. para masaya. abangan!
